Wind Tunnel Tests

The ADAG research group has performed extensive research activities in the departmental low speed wind-tunnel on airfoil tests and aircraft scaled model tests.

Note: All activities related to the DIAS main wind tunnel are managed and operated by ADAG. For any inquire about possible wind tunnel tests, please refer to one of the ADAG contacts.

Experiments have been performed also in the wind-tunnel at University of Alberta (Canada) and at Delft University of Technology (Holland).

A new apparatus to performpressure measurement with high accuracy has been designed and built.

The group has worked on the design and set up of strain-gages balances for wind tunnel forces measurement.

Several wind tunnel tests have been carried out on light aircraft models. All test campaigns have been focused on aerodynamic characteristics measurement of light aircraft to be produced (P92 and P96 for Tecnam and G97 for S.A.I.) In particular for G97 light aircraft an extensive wind tunnel test campaign has been performed for the configuration aerodynamic optimization.

Experimental work regarding a double-component airfoil for race-car wing has been carried out in collaboration with FIAT.

Side wall suction devices have allowed accurate measurements on this high-lift multi-component airfoil.

Also experimental tests regarding sails, vertical axes and horizontal axes wind turbines have also been performed.
